Barbara Jane (Gilchrist) Sanders, age 86

Barbara Jane (Gilchrist) Sanders of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025 at the age of 86.

Barbara was born in Florence, Alabama on May 19, 1939 to Jessie James Gilchrist and Elizabeth “Dovie” Gilchrist. She grew up with a large family having six brothers and three sisters. When Barbara was a young girl, her father passed away and her mother married Jim Inge who raised Barbara as his own daughter.

In 1954, Barbara married Robert (Bob) Sanders, and they lived in Stuttgart, Arkansas for most of their lives. She was a housewife and a mother, and she worked in retail sales.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Dovie Gilchrist and Jim Inge, her husband Robert (Bob) Sanders, her son Robbie Sanders, and a daughter Dawn Sanders.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Vickie Chastain and Kathy Robnett, grandchildren Justin Myers of North Little Rock, Felicia Robnett of North Little Rock, Brandy Ables of Fayetteville, Cale Chastain of Stuttgart, Tammy Simpson of West Helena, Lauren Sanders of Little Rock, eleven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
